HOTEL PICK: Marco Polo Plaza Cebu

Post #9. My choice of residence in the Queen City of the South.

HOTEL PICK: Marco Polo Plaza Cebu
Marco Polo Plaza Cebu was previously known as Cebu Plaza Hotel before the same was managed by the Marco Polo Hotel Group.
Isn’t it just lovely?

During December, a big Christmas tree will greet you in the grand lobby.

This hotel was the first hotel I stayed at when I first visited Cebu. And from that moment onwards, I fell in love with it.

I have already stayed both at the regular as well as the Continental Club Floor of the said hotel. Despite the various differences of the offerings of the respective floors, customer service of each hotel staff remains consistently commendable. This is just one of the many reasons why I love staying at this hotel when I am visiting Cebu.

For the regular floor, I always opt to stay at the Grand Deluxe Room with Seaview. The bed is always as comfortable as ever. The room space is big enough for you to do some cartwheels. The bathroom is at par with international standards (although I must admit that some of the bathroom fixtures need to be replaced already).

As for the Continental Club Floor, their room offerrings are just the same as that in the regular floors except for the fact that you are entitled to club benefits such as all day refreshments (juice, soda, beers, coffee, tea and water), complimentary snacks, complimentary cocktails, complimentary pressing of clothes and private check-in/ check-out. For the complete list of club benefits, you may visit their website. Note that they have both a local website which was created by Marco Polo Cebu, and an international site which contains all the properties of Marco Polo.

Here are some of the pictures taken last December 29-31, 2012.

Let me just say that I love the food at Marco Polo Cebu, particularly their breakfast. It’s one of the best breakfast buffet I ever had. By the way, buffet breakfast at the club lounge is a la carte style. They only cook your food once you give your preferred breakfast order. This means you can ask them to personalize your order and the food is served hot. Another plus factor for taking your breakfast at the club lounge is the great calm ambiance of the place. As not too many people are dining, you are assured of a peaceful breakfast.

By the way, this hotel offers complimentary shuttle services to/from the Ayala Center, SM and the IT Business Park. Such service can really cut down your transportation expenses while you’re enjoying Cebu. To be assured a seat, it’s advisable to call the concierge and make a reservation as to your intended time of departure from the hotel. You can check the shuttle schedule on their website as well as in the pamphlet which can be found under the drawer of your room’s writing desk.

Marco Polo is a great hotel for business as well as leisure travellers. Staying at Marco Polo is definitely worth your time and money.

Till the next post! 😘
