FYI: Philippine passport renewal at Marquee Mall (Angeles City, Pampanga)

Post #20. Passport renewal at its best.

FYI: Philippine passport renewal at Marquee Mall (Angeles City, Pampanga)

**UPDATE: Hi there! Note that I will not answer queries related to this post anymore as I think this experience has become an obsolete process, given the fact this post was made two years ago (counting from August 2015). Will blog an updated Passport Renewal process once I renew my passport. Thank you very much.

As my family and I are nearing the expiration of the 6-month left validity with regard to our passports, we decided to renew the same last Saturday at DFA’s Passport Center located inside Marquee Mall in Angeles City, Pampanga.

We arrived in Marquee Mall at around 1030 in the morning. The DFA Passport Center is located at the 3rd level of the said mall. It’s just above the Kenny Rogers Restaurant at the 2nd level.

We filled up our application forms in the area allotted for the said task. A photocopy of your current passport (page with picture and the signature page) and one valid government-issued ID with signature are to be presented and submitted along with the original current passport. If possible, do and procure the necessary requirements before you go to the passport center. It will save you a lot of time. We spent around 15-20 minutes for this.

After filling up the application form, we handed it over, along with the renewal requirements, to the guard at the information desk. We were made to wait for around 5-10 minutes before the guard allowed us to approach the information desk for our respective numbers. We then proceeded inside the said center.

In the waiting area, we again gave our application forms, now with their respective control numbers, to the guard assigned in the said area. He is the one tasked to give the application forms to the DFA employees behind the glass window. One has just to wait for their name to be called out by the guard before proceeding to present to the DFA employees the necessary requirements.

The next step would be paying the fees before the cashier. We opt for the rush processing, which is priced at Php 1,200. The passport is scheduled to be released by May 16, 2013.

After payment, our application forms were again given to the guard assigned in the encoding/photo-capture area. We waited for our names to be called by the guard before we can proceed with the second to the last step of the renewal process, which is the input of the personal information, thumbprints scan and signature/photo capture.

The last step involves the manner as to how you want to claim your passport. One option is by LBC. If you choose this one, be prepared to shell out Php 120 for Metro Manila Addresses. Also, the passport is sent out by DFA a day after your scheduled release. Another option is by claiming the same at the said Passport Center. Be advised that if you opt for this one, the passport will only be released to the passport owner or his/her immediate family members, with the necessary authorization letter/vald IDs of both the passport owner and the said immediate family member. For the last step, we chose having our passports delivered by LBC as it would be inconvenient if we pick up the same personally. Note also that they strictly implement a dress code when one picks up their passports.

Overall, we finished all the renewal process by 12:15pm. Although we went back again at 1 pm to process the LBC shipment request for our passport delivery, I believe that this passport center is really efficient and effective in delivering fast and satisfying service.

Pros:
> No appointments necessary. You can just do a walk-in. Be sure to check for the necessary requirements.

> No long lines. Only a few handful people were there considering it’s a Saturday.

> Convenience at its finest. It is located inside Marquee Mall. Fully airconditioned areas. You can roam around the mall once you’re done.

> Efficient and effective staff.

> No noon break. But LBC staff is on lunch break from 12 to 1 PM.

> Open from Mondays to Saturdays during mall hours. I believe they have a cut-off period until 2PM.

> Senior citizens are prioritized. My dad was done by 11:15 AM.

Cons:
> Not that accessible. No direct bus coming from Manila drops off at this mall in Angeles City. If you possess your own private transportation, this won’t be a problem.

> NLEX toll fee plus gas charges for your trip.

So the next time you need to do something that involves the DFA and passports, give the DFA Passport Center in Marquee Mall a try. I know you’ll appreciate it the same way I did. 😉

UPDATE (7 May 2013):

As I was browsing through our envelope, I saw this paper with the list of requirements. Hope this helps 🙂

  1. Hello Jackie, I would like to get my Philippine passport renewed, and I am a dual citizen, would letting the embassy know that I have a US passport affect anything? Also my cousin doesn’t have an NBI clearance, and I have searched that POLICE and BARANGAY clearance is ok, also I have school I.D’s, NSO, an old police clearance, yearbook? Would those help? His NBI won’t be available till a month, but he needs to apply a passport by nextweek.. help?

    • Hi Iris! I believe you need to submit documentations in relation to your being a dual citizen. Please check http://passport.com.ph/requirements for the complete list. As for your cousin, as long as he has other documentations available as provided in the requirements list, he can get a passport. Don’t forget the NSO-certified Birth Certificate as well. Hope this helps! 🙂

  2. Hi Ms, jackie i would like to ask if foreigner can possible be a Residence here in Philippines and what do he need ? hope u can help .

    • Hi Marlyn! I believe your question is out of topic as what we are discussing here is passport applications/renewals. But to answer your question briefly, a foreigner can be a resident of the Philippines. And for a foreigner, there are many forms of being a Philippine resident. Be specific as to the goal of the foreigner’s residency as requirements vary. Hope this helps! 🙂

  3. Hi Ms. Jackie nagrenew po ako ng passport ko last August 15, 2013 then release date August 28 express process 1,200 tapos idedeliver ng Lbc August 29 paid additional 120 for the delivery pero until now wala pa tumatawag ako sa Lbc 3times na pero sagot nila wala pa daw sa SM manila dfa ung passport ko nakabook pa naman ako ng flight Sept. 11..

    • Hi Maria! I suggest that you contact DFA Manila tomorrow morning to check on your passport status and basically communicate to them your dilemma. Na-delay din kasi yung release nung sa akin for a week from the date of the supposed release.

Ang alam ku kasi pwede mu tanung sa DFA Main Office mismo yung status kasi yung passports namin na we renewed sa Marquee Mall was sent by the DFA Main Office located in Macapagal. But you can also try asking for help na din sa DFA SM Manila na pinag-applyan mu ng passport.

  4. hello po
ask ko lang kung makakakuha po ba ako ng passport kahit wala akong middle name kc po i used my mom surname but i dont have middle name . im 23 years old na po. at pwede di po ba makakuha ng passport ang anak ko 1 year and 6 months na po sya… sana po makapag reply kayo maraming salamat po…

    • Hi Mary Jane!

As for your child, yes makakakuha na siya ng passport. Hope this helps! 🙂

You can just wait for another week tapos pag wala pa din, you can follow-up with them or with LBC.

        Hope this helps!

  5. Hello po! I’m planning to renew my passport, do I need to bring supporting documents to prove my identity or a valid id would do? And if there are delays on the release thru LBC, would it be advisable to pick them up personally? I just live an hour away from Marquee mall and it wouldn’t be that much of a hassle if I get them personally.

    • Hi Shin!

A valid ID would do. Make sure to photocopy it as well along with your old passport as you need to submit a copy of it with the DFA. As for the delay, the delay is not caused by the LBC but the DFA itself. I believe that there will still be a delay even if you chose to pick up the passport personally. Hope this helps! 🙂

  6. Hi,good pm Ms.Jackie,
Pls. give some advice po & to make sure .

    • Hi Jacky!

You can renew naman using lahat ng choices na ini-enumerate mu. Na-delay talaga ang release sa DFA Marquee mall siguro ng mga 1 week from the date of the scheduled release. Marami kasi nagrerenew doon kasi no need for appointment, mabilis ang pagkuha and bukas sila ng Saturdays. Hope this helps! 🙂

  7. Hi Miss Jackie, ask lang po kasi yng photo na taken sa page niyo is for minor applicants lang so paano po ang requirements ng mga adults

  8. Ms.jackie, need pa po ba ng father q to provide nbi,nso birth cert. at kung anu2 pa for his requirements for the renewal ng passport nya?mejo malayo pa po kc panggagalingan nya tapos bka kulang o wala syang madalang kahit anung req.sayang nmn po pamasahe..waiting for your reply po..thanks!

    • Hi Em!

Hindi ku po alam if they have a much faster releasing period than those stated in their application/renewal forms. Better ask them directly for this as I am no way affiliated with DFA.

Thanks God bless

      • Hi lanie!

Please refer to passport.com.ph/requirements for the list of complete requirements.

Sa DFA Marquee pwede. I don’t know kung sa DFA Pampanga mismo eh allowed ang walk-in.

  11. Hi Ms. Jackie.
I just like to ask kung pwedi ba namin na i.follow up sa DFA marquee mall ung passport ng mother ko na inapply pa nung December 20, 2013 at ngbayad ng 1200 for rush processing but until now, January 25, 2014 ay wala pa din. thanks

    • Hi Glo!

Did they text you already na madedelay yung release nya? Kasi yung sa amin, rush processing din pinagawa namin pero the releasing of our passport was moved 8 days after the scheduled release na naka-stamp dun sa receipt namin.

  12. Hi miss Jackie, pwd na po ba mag renew next month kahit next year pa nang may 14,2015 pa ma expired passport ko.?tnx pro..

    • Hi Rechiel,

I believe pwede naman magrenew kahit next year pa siya mag-expire. Remember the 6-month validity before date of expiry required pag mag-travel and for visa purposes?

      Hope this helps!

But please bear in mind na when the government agencies say rush, hindi pa kasama dun yung days na may possibility ng delay due to technical issues nila. So do not set your expectations na pag rush ay i-rush talaga nila. Just my two cents.

  16. hi mam jackie

    • Hi 101284!

Better call up DFA first if you can collect prior to June 2 kasi baka pumunta ka dun tapus di pa pala ready yung passport mu.

    • Hi Elmark!

Kelan ba ang scheduled release nung passport mu as stamped in the receipt na binigay sayu? Nagtext ba sila na madedelay yung release? If yes, expect mu na 1-2 weeks delayed yung release ng passport mu from the scheduled release na nakalagay sa receipt. You can also contact DFA Pampanga for this. I can only set your expectations as to the reason of delay as I am in no way connected with DFA. Hope this helps!

  19. Hi ms Jackie,

Ask ko lng po if pwede sa dfa marquee mall mag papalit ng old passpOrt to epassport? Next year May pa pO mag expire ung passport ko pero I want to change it to epassport dahil next yr d na dw tatanggapin ung old passport. We’re planning to go to UK p nmn. Thanks.

    • Hi Irma!

Yes. You can renew your passport this early sa DFA Marquee Mall. Plus it will save you the hassle kasi matagal ang release ng mga passport din. It usually take another 2-3 weeks on top of the scheduled release na naka-stamp sa receipt mu.

  20. Hi Ms. Jackie

    Haba ng thread! 🙂

Well, just want to ask nadin po if dun na kukunan ng picture kasi you didn’t say na nagdala ka or magdala ng passport size picture…

and with renewal requirements, as in your OLD expired PASSPORT and supporting ID’s nalang din po ung dadalhin?

    Thanks in advance po! 🙂

    Godspeed!

    • Hi Ren!

Yes. Dun ka na kukuhanan ng photo. No need to bring Passport ID Pictures na like before.

As to your second question, yes. Just the old expired passpport and supporting IDs nalang.

  21. Hello jackie just want to inform others this time there is a cut off of 200 applicants. Bec. We did what you said and went there w/o an appt.we were there at 10am and it was cut off already. So just to inform everyone some applicants get their appt.in advance

    • Hi Evelyn!

Thank you for your update. I posted a note as early as August 2015 that I am no longer answering queries regarding the renewal process at Marquee because I think my experience is now obsolete.
